Great Lakes Scrip
We are pleased to share some exciting news about a new fundraising program for all Team Suffolk families, a program where you can actually SAVE MONEY off of your annual dues and raise money for the team while you shop. The program is called Great Lakes Scrip. When you use Scrip, you’re using gift cards and prepaid cards to earn money just by making your regular household purchases. Instead of paying with cash or credit, you’ll use the prepaid gift cards that are used just like cash. Popular retailers that participate include Stop & Shop, Walmart, iTunes, Nike, ShopRite, Amazon, Bed Bath & Beyond, Dick’s Sporting Goods and T.J. Maxx, as well as popular travel retailers like Marriott, Carnival Cruise Lines, Avis Car Rental and American Airlines. List of 2011 Scrip retailers. How do you raise money and save with Scrip? Because Scrip is purchased with cash up front, participating retailers offer a non-profit contribution. Most non-profits use Scrip as a 100% fundraiser but Team Suffolk is providing this program mostly as a service to our families by sharing the proceeds between your swimmers’ annual dues and the team (part of the team’s portion is used to offset the FedEx shipping cost). All it takes is a little planning and then do your normal shopping with gift cards. Scrip can be used for just about any purchase, including food, entertainment, gas, dining out, birthday gifts, iTunes and holiday purchases. It’s like free money! And it’s easy too - when a card runs out of money, you can reload it on the Scrip website. How Scrip works Directions for participating in Scrip (printable version):
FAQs How do I know how much has been credited to my swimmer’s annual dues? How will I know how much to pay when my swimmer’s dues are due? If I plan to use Scrip for purchases throughout the year, can I delay paying my dues? What happens if my family leaves the team? I have more than 1 swimmer on the team. How will Scrip credits be applied? Who can participate? How much can I make towards my swimmers’ dues? For example, Stop & Shop gift cards currently have a 4% non-profit discount. If you spend an average of $1000 a month at Stop & Shop and use your Scrip gift card each time, in one month you would make $40 ($24 would get applied to your swimmers’ dues and the rest would go to the team). In one year you could potentially raise $288 towards your swimmers’ dues just by doing your regular grocery shopping with the Scrip Stop & Shop gift card - without costing you a penny more than you would usually spend. My child is in the Novice group. Can we participate in Scrip? Is participation in the Scrip program required? Why should I participate? The portion of the non-profit contribution that goes to your family reduces your swimmers’ annual dues via cash credits that are applied directly to your swimmers’ account(s). The portion that goes to the team is partially used to offset the Scrip FedEx shipping costs. Where can I get more information? You can also contact Peter Gosule at pgosule@tshills.org. Go to Top |
